The show was recently renewed for a second season.

Set in a city-sized underground bunker in Colorado three years after a doomsday event, the series follows United States Secret Service agent Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown) as he seeks to discover the truth behind the killing of the President of the United States. As Xavier comes under suspicion for President Bradford's death, he searches for answers about what really happened, and is unsure of whom he can trust as his questions lead to many shocking revelations.

For Brown, he reunites with Fogelson after the success of their previous collaboration on NBC’s This Is Us. He previously portrayed Christopher Darden in the FX limited series The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story (2016) earning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie. For his role as Randall Pearson in the NBC drama series This Is Us (2016–2022) he earned the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Brown made history at the 2018 Golden Globes as the first Black actor to win best actor in a TV drama for his role as Randall Pearson in This Is Us.

He has also starred in the Prime Video comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

In total so far, he has won three Primetime Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and four Screen Actors Guild Awards, and has also been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in American Fiction.
