Exclusive: Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, and Toni Collette talk Bong Joon-ho's Sci-Fi film Mickey 17
Hitting theaters on March 7 from Warner Bros. is the sci-fi movie Mickey 17, director Bong Joon-ho’s new film following the Oscar-winning Parasite in 2019. The film stars Robert Pattinson stars as Mickey Barnes, an "Expendable": a disposable employee on a human expedition sent out to colonize the ice world Niflheim. There can't be more than two of them at the same time, but after he goes missing he comes back to discover another.
Based on the sci-fi novel written by Edward Ashton. The cast also features Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo, Steve Park, Patsy Ferran, and Angus Imrie.
Yeun reunites with Bong Joon Ho after working together on the Netflix pic Okja. He won a slew of awards including an Emmy Award for his role in the Netflix series Beef opposite Ali Wong. On film, he starred in Jordan Peele’s thriller Nope with Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer.
Ackie was last seen in Zoe Kravitz’s directorial debut Blink Twice opposite Channing Tatum. Her previous film credits include her breakout role in Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker and starring in the Whitney Houston biopic I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
Collette was most recently seen in Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2 and had a voice role in Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken. She also starred in the Prime Video series Power and earned raves for her role in the HBO Max limited series The Staircase.
