Exclusive: Ron Canada talks Off-Braodway play Pay The Writer

Currently playing as a seven-week run until October 1st at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center in New York City is the Off-Broadway dramatic play Pay The Writer, written by Tawni O’Dell and starring Ron Canada stars opposite Marcia Cross (“Desperate Housewives”) and Bryan Batt (“Mad Men”).

Marcia Cross plays Cyrus’s ex-wife Lana Holt, Bryan Batt is his literary agent Bruston Fischer, Steven Hauck as Jean Luc, Miles G. Jackson as Young Bruston and Taz, Garrett Turner as Young Cyrus, Danielle J. Summons as Gigi, and Stephen Payne as Homeless Man.

Since leaving his career as an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist in the Metro DC area, Canada has appeared in numerous TV, film, and stage projects. Among his roles, Canada is best known for his appearances in such films as National Treasure, Lone Star, The American President, Cinderella Man, and Wedding Crashers; on TV in “House of Cards,” “Boston Legal,” “The West Wing,” and several “Star Trek” franchises; and on Broadway in Network opposite Bryan Cranston.

Blackfilmandtv.com’s Wilson Morales spoke with Canada about his leading role in Pay The Write.
