Gerard Johnson’s thriller Odyssey, featuring Sallieu Sesay, to premiere at 2025 SXSW

Making its World Premiere at the 2025 SXSW is the thriller Odyssey, directed by Gerard Johnson and starring Polly Maberly, Mikael Persbrandt, Jasmine Blackborow, Guy Burnet, Ryan Hayes, Charley Palmer Rothwell, Kellie Shirley and Sallieu Sesay.

Written by Gerard Johnson and Austin Collings, the film will be shown on Mar 9, 2025 at Alamo Lamar 9.

Odyssey follows Natasha Flynn, a sharp-tongued, coke-fuelled London estate agent, who juggles debts, danger, and deception. Her seemingly glossy life—flashy clothes, posh loft apartment, and endless champagne—hides a spiralling mess of broken dreams, addiction and a business on the brink of collapse. Enter Dan and Will, smooth-talking loan sharks with a sinister edge. Their offer? Easy cash, if she hides a kidnapped fellow estate agent. What follows is a wild, neon-soaked ride through London’s seedy underbelly, as Natasha searches for The Viking, an old ally with violent tendencies. A bloody, chaotic showdown ensues, leaving bodies—and morals—shattered.

Sallieu Sesay plays the cabbie in the film. He previously appeared at The Berlinale 73rd Annual Film Festival in John Trengove's nihilistic thriller Manodrome alongside Jesse Eisenberg. He has recurred on CBS' Seal Team, HBO's Barry, and was featured in Tyler Perry's All The Queens men. He won Best Supporting Actor at the Queen Palms Film Festival for his portrayal of Snapper in Bloodhound Disciple.

Producers on the film include John Jencks (The Crow) and Isabel Freer (The Occupant) for the Electric Shadow Company, and Matthew James Wilkinson (Seize Them!), and Patrick Tolan (T.I.M) for Stigma Films.
