Exclusive: Tim Story On Directing The Live-Action Hybrid ‘Tom & Jerry’
Coming out this week in theaters and on HBO Max is the live-action hybrid film, Tom & Jerry, directed by Tim Story and starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Michael Peña, Colin Jost, Rob Delaney, Pallavi Sharda, Jordan Bolger, Patsy Ferran, Nicky Jam, Bobby Cannavale, Lil Rel Howery, and Ken Jeong.
One of the most beloved rivalries in history is reignited when Jerry moves into New York City’s finest hotel on the eve of “the wedding of the century,” forcing the event’s desperate planner to hire Tom to get rid of him. The ensuing cat and mouse battle threatens to destroy her career, the wedding and possibly the hotel itself. But soon, an even bigger problem arises: a diabolically ambitious staffer conspiring against all three of them.
Having had success with franchise films such as “Fantastic Four,” “Think Like a Man,” and “Ride Along,” this is Story’s first film dealing with CGI since he directed the Fantastic Four films. So when given the opportunity to do a film involving historic cartoon rivals Tom and Jerry and merge animated with live-action characters, Story wasn’t about to pass this up. In speaking with BlackFilmandTV.com’s Wilson Morales, Story talks about his experience combining both elements.
