Exclusive: Gloria Estefan and Andy Garcia talk Father of the Bride
Now playing on HBO Max from Warner Bros. is the romantic comedy, Father of the Bride, a modern rom-com updated from the timeless classic starring Andy Garcia, Gloria Estefan, Adria Arjona, Isabela Merced, Diego Boneta and Chloe Fineman.
“Father of the Bride” will stream on HBO Max beginning June 16, 2022, and will be available in 4K UHD, HDR10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on supported devices.
Billy (Andy Garcia) and Ingrid (Gloria Estefan) are surprised when their eldest daughter Sofia (Adria Arjona) comes home to Miami for a visit, announcing a new boyfriend, Adan (Diego Boneta)—who is now her fiancé—and their plans for a wedding and a new life together in Mexico. Family relationships are tested as the roller coaster ride of wedding planning races toward the altar. This sparkling story of a modern rom-com updated from a timeless classic illustrates the surprising and funny ways the heart can adapt in the name of love.
Father of the Bride is directed by Mexican writer / filmmaker Gary Alazraki, director the film We Are the Nobles previously, as well as the "Club de Cuervos" series made for Netflix. The screenplay is written by Matt Lopez. Produced by Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Paul Michael Perez.
Best known for roles in the Ocean Eleven franchise and The Godfather Part III, Garcia can be seen next opposite Katey Sagal in the highly anticipated ABC drama Rebel.
For Estefan, who is a legend in the music industry, this is only the third time she has acted in a movie. She made her acting debut opposite Meryl Streep in 1999’s Music of the Heart, also providing the Oscar-nominated song of the same title. Most recently she appeared in Kenny Ortega’s A Change of Heart.
Blackfilmandtv.com’s Wilson Morales spoke with Estefan and Garcia regarding their experience on the film.
